I was really quite terrified of giving birth but, from the moment I met Sarah, she made me feel supported and safe. Gave amazing support...

Sarah looked after me during labour and the birth of my little boy in 2020. She respected my wishes and explained everything as things were happening/changing. You could tell she had compassion towards her job and good outcomes for women and babies. She assisted me with breastfeeding and gave amazing support and advice around breastfeeding. "I felt heard, respected and seen"...

Now that things have settled a bit I felt like I had to message you for a proper “thank you”. I just wanted you to know that you were such an important and positive part of my birth experience. I arrived at the maternity ward so scared, thinking about all the worst possible scenarios of an induction, based on the stories I heard. But thanks to the midwifes and specially thanks to you, all went well and positively beyond any of my expectations. Thank you for your kindness and for listening to my wishes for birth and trying to adapt to the induction process when you first took care of me, the day before Miguel’s birth. I felt heard, respected and seen. Thank you for when you took over the shift the next day. I remember I prayed so much to have a better experience with midwives this time and for a quick recovery. With my first son I lost the control of everything and felt tense all the way after one of the midwives loosing her patience with the student that was present in the room and leading to more tension in the pushing part of labour. This time I felt so relieved when I saw you again and at that moment I knew that all would be fine. Thanks for the choice of language you used all the way. I remember you saying “let’s see if we have time or not have time” (regarding painrelief options) instead of talking about centimetres of dilation. Even though I was already in a different zone ?? I remember thinking “that’s so nice and thoughtful”. And all the words of encouragement I heard from you. I remember I knew baby was coming by listening to my body, but also by the tone of yours and my husband’s voice. But instead of panicking you both have confidence and the right guidance I needed in those last moments. Thank you for your care with us all the way after birth as well.
